Progenesis operates a laboratory accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and certified under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA). These designations reflect adherence to established quality and regulatory standards in laboratory medicine.
We are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of quality and compliance across all aspects of our operations. This includes continuous evaluation of laboratory processes, adherence to applicable regulations, and rigorous internal oversight to ensure that our services meet or exceed recognized benchmarks for patient care and laboratory practice.
In addition, Progenesis holds a Clinical Laboratory Permit issued by the New York State Department of Health. This authorization falls under the Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program (CLEP), which oversees licensed laboratories and ensures the accuracy and reliability of testing performed.

The process involved in embryo culture and biopsy are subject to various limitations including embryo quality, biopsy quality, DNA integration, maternal contamination, and many other factors that may compromise the quality of the PGT test. Like any medical test, PGTA has a low rate of false positive and false negative results, leading to misdiagnosis. Some of the reasons for misdiagnosis are associated with “mosaicism”, where chromosomally normal and chromosomally abnormal cells coexist in the same biopsy. Other sources of misdiagnosis could be related to contamination of maternal origin. In this case cumulus cells present the culture media or attached to the embryo can contaminate the biopsy leading to opposite gender or masking chromosomal abnormalities. PGT-A and PGT-M/PGT-SR are also complicated tests that use techniques that are at the limits of medical diagnostic testing therefore, PGT-A is not 100% error free. As a consequence, a normal result does not guarantee a chromosomally normal offspring. Embryos resulted as euploids may carry an abnormality that can lead to implantation failure, miscarriage, or birth with syndrome. This test is for pre-implantation embryo screening and is not intended as a replacement for conventional NIPT, CVS or amniocentesis performed during pregnancy. The results are not intended to be used as the sole means for clinical diagnosis or patient management decisions. Follow-up screening during pregnancy is recommended.

PGT-A test evaluates chromosome copy only. It is designed for chromosome aneuploidy screening and not for the diagnosis of single gene disorders (PGT-M), including single or multiple nucleotide substitution, deletion, duplication, gross chromosomal changes such as large deletions, duplications, translocations, and inversions.

This test is limited to screening for aneuploidies greater than 20MB in size, it is not intended for detection of microdeletions or duplications, smaller gene duplications and deletions.

Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) has several technical and biological limitations that may affect the quality and interpretation of results. Factors such as embryo quality, biopsy quality, DNA integrity, and possible contamination can impact the accuracy of analysis. For example, the presence of mosaicism, where chromosomally normal and abnormal cells coexist within the same embryo, may contribute to result variability. Maternal cell contamination, such as cumulus cells remaining in the culture media or attached to the embryo, can also affect findings.

Like other complex laboratory procedures, PGT-A and PGT-M/PGT-SR may produce both false-positive and false-negative results. A result indicating a chromosomally normal (euploid) embryo does not guarantee the absence of genetic abnormalities. PGT is not a substitute for prenatal diagnostic testing methods such as NIPT, chorionic villus sampling (CVS), or amniocentesis. The test results should not be used as the sole basis for clinical diagnosis or patient management decisions.

PGT-A evaluates chromosome copy number only. It is designed for aneuploidy screening and is not intended for the detection of:

-Single-gene disorders (PGT-M)
-Single or multiple nucleotide substitutions, deletions, duplications
-Large chromosomal rearrangements such as gross deletions and duplications, translocations or inversions
-Microdeletions or microduplications smaller than 20 Mb
